This is a great piece of humanization in My Little Pony fanart. You can see the personality of Vinyl Scratch perfectly, and the signature grin spread out on her face. It doesn't take a second to recognize the character the artist has drawn, and it was executed in a fantastic manner by the use of the colors and shading.
But a little more would have been nice.
Vision and originality: 3 and a half stars
The art is simple, nothing jaw-dropping. But what it lacks in action, makes up for simplicity. It doesn't need an incredible pose to attract the attention, neither does it beg for it using crazy colors as other fanarts of the same character tend to do. It's pretty original in that sense, but it feels like it needs something else, yet it doesn't scream "dullness" as one would think when seeing something simple. It passes off greatly on its own.
Technique: 4 stars
The coloring and shading are very nice. The use of the soft purple for the skin as the only "different" shading-color in the character brings her out of the picture.
However, one of the reasons I believe this stand out is mainly because of the coloring. It's fantastically executed, and the lineart itself is good too, but that's all I can really point out.
Impact: 5 stars
It's Vinyl Scratch/DJ PON3. Anyone who has stumbled into the pony fandom would recognize her immediately. Her cool demeanor and the soft techno lights in the back. It's her, and by simply looking at it, I can hear the music playing in the background.
Once more, this drawing is simple, but it passes off just fine. I believe that, perhaps, a soft, different color for lighting in the hair would've been better, but it doesn't need it. The person did an excellent job, and I'm happy to have stumbled upon this piece. I'll definitely visit the dA's page, knowing well that this person has talent and promise.
This is awesome. I love how you drew this, and DJ Pon-3 aka Vinyl Scratch is one of my favorite background ponies.
I love how you did the shading and the glasses on this, even the background.
And here is some rating information for you.
The Vision: It is really colorful, and the person that sees it is going to really like this. The Originality: It is good, and I believe this is good for humanoid ponies. The Technique: The technique is awesome. You did the shading good. Impact: You worked on this really hard, and tried your best.
That is all. Keep on getting better at your drawings!
